“Your body holds the wisdom. Your story holds the truth. Healing begins when both are heard.”
Emily Elkins
Practicum Student Counselor & Registered Yoga Teacher
Hi, I’m Emily. I’m in my final year of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of St. Thomas and currently completing my practicum at The Flourishing Way. Before entering the mental health field, I spent seven years working in the corporate world. That experience gave me a strong foundation in navigating complexity, building meaningful relationships, and offering steady presence, all of which now inform my work as a therapist.
My approach to counseling deeply values the mind-body connection. I’m a Registered Yoga Teacher and plan to complete EMDR training by the end of this year. At The Flourishing Way, I help co-facilitate our teen process group, where I enjoy creating a space for adolescents to explore identity, manage anxiety, and build self-trust in a supportive environment. I aim to offer a warm, non-judgmental space where clients, especially teens and young adults, can meet themselves with curiosity and compassion. I believe in the power of slowing down and tuning in, and I support each client in building a more connected and accepting relationship with themselves.
My approach is warm, grounded, and flexible, I value authenticity and believe that embracing who you are, and what truly matters to you, can transform your life. When we feel off course, it’s easy to believe we need to become someone else. But in my experience, healing often looks more like coming home to yourself. My mission is to walk alongside clients on their journey of self-discovery, helping them live with more clarity, alignment, and ease.
My therapeutic style is relational and collaborative. I draw from evidence-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In a world where so many of us feel disconnected, from ourselves and from each other, I believe deeply in the healing power of relationship. As a therapist, I aim to be a steady, supportive presence as clients navigate their inner world and reconnect with their own sense of agency and belonging.
