Kristin Mckenna, LPC, RPT

Registered Play Therapist | Play Therapy for Children in Houston, TX

If your child has been more anxious, emotional, or acting out lately, you’re not alone. Many parents come in feeling unsure how to help, especially when their child can’t fully explain what’s going on inside. Children often communicate through behavior, and without the right support, it can leave families feeling disconnected or overwhelmed.

Kristin specializes in play therapy in Houston, helping children process emotions, build coping skills, and feel more confident in themselves. Through developmentally appropriate, evidence-based play therapy, she creates a space where children can safely express what they’re experiencing and begin to make sense of their inner world. Alongside this work, she partners closely with parents, offering guidance and practical tools to support lasting change at home.

Her background includes working with children across schools, early intervention programs, and research settings after earning her Master’s in Counseling from the University of Houston. These experiences shaped her belief that meaningful progress happens when children feel understood and supported in ways that match their developmental needs.

Kristin’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in connection. She is passionate about helping children strengthen emotional regulation, navigate challenges like anxiety and behavioral concerns, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. Her goal is not just symptom relief, but helping families experience more ease, understanding, and connection in their everyday lives.
